- Apenheul
Apenheul is a specialized zoo located near the Dutch city of Apeldoorn. It can be found in the middle of nature resort Berg & Bos (200 hectare). In Apenheul you can find monkeys from Africa, South America and Asia. The monkeys do not live in cages with bars, but in large, natural enclosures in the forest. Some species walk around freely amidst the visitors. Others, like the gorillas, bonobos and orangutans live on spacious islands from which their behavior can be studied thoroughly. Apenheul is closed during the winter.
- Sand sculptures and Sculpture garden
Every year there’s a sand sculpture festival in Garderen. This yearly festival is Organized form the 1st of April till the 1st of November and – together with the sculpture garden – is absolutely worth a visit.
- Dolfinarium
Het Dolfinarium in Harderwijk is the only Dolphinarium in the Netherlands. It is the largest marine mammal park in Europe and is yearly visited by hundreds of thousands people. The park was founded 1955 as a sideline for the exploitation of a shipping company. The mammal park opened for the public in 1965.
- Julianatoren (Juliana tower)
Julianatoren is a themepark for children. It can be found west from the city of Apeldoorn in the province of Gelderland. In earlier times it was the main attraction of the area (together with Prins Bernharddal which is also a themepark). The Tower owes its name to the tower that was erected in 1910. The name also refers to the name of former Queen Juliana. The tower is part of the national trust.
- Hoge Veluwe
Park De Hoge Veluwe is a Dutch national park in the province of Gelderland. The largest part belongs to the city of Ede. The park is approximately 54 square kilometers and takes up about 5 percent of the Veluwe. The Veluwe, is the largest lowland nature resort in north-western Europe. You can find cultural historic elements for architecture and visual arts such as the world-famous Kröller Müller Museum where you can also find works by van Gogh. Another striking thing is that the park is exploited without government funding, entrance fees are the main source of income for the park. The park came into existence in 1935 and is one of the oldest parks of the Netherlands. - Klimbos Garderen
